The LIGHT photographic series offers a unique perspective on nightlife in Toronto and New York City. Alexei takes long-exposure shots focusing on light - from streetcars, neon signs, and other objects - and digitally manipulates the resulting images, creating entirely new urban landscapes.
Alexei Rebrov's customers enjoy the texture and details of the work in a way isn't possible on a web page. Rebrov's art has both physical energy and multiple layers of interpritations.
There are expressionism, color-generated space, and evocations of cyberspace.
Born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1969, Alexei graduated with a Master's degree in physics in 1993. Art, however, proved to be all-consuming. He began drawing at a young age, and went on to open a gallery in Kiev exhibiting his works, together with other emerging and influential Ukrainian artists. Alexei also explored architectural photography in Europe before moving to Canada in 2000.
In 2011, he launched a new body of work inspired by nightlife, movement, and light.
